The Mars Venus Sun Conjunction Cycle

I said I would share the math, myth and magic of Mars. This post is about the math. There is a beauty in math. Math creates patterns, sacred geometries, harmonics, odd synchronicities and mysteries beyond our understanding. But when the math ain’t mathing, we lose all of it! We can’t find our way to the sacred and divine in numbers; the meaning and magic are lost. That is what has happened with Mars.

Mars is pushy, selfish, warring and greedy. The ancients called him – liar, false star, strange one – those were his Mesopotamian names. He was considered the angry star or the furious one… and yet in Mars we find our drive, our strength, our endurance, and our will. Mars is the one who takes steps for our survival and is our courage. But how does he achieve his goals? By violence or through the heart? Sacred Mars/sacred masculine looks like Tammuz/Damuzid, Osiris or even Jesus. How did the Mars within them become sacred? Fulcinelli says in the Mysteries of the Cathedrals that Mars can become Venus. But, how does Mars reduce to or transmute into Venus? The cycles of Mars, Venus and the Sun show us the way. But only if we look deeply at the details. Mars was strange… and maybe that’s why we went with the easy way… an average.

‘Look at the sky and the spheres of the planets,’says this author, ‘you will see that Saturn is the highest of all, succeeded by Jupiter and then by Mars, the Sun, Venus, Mercury and finally the Moon. Consider now that the virtues of the planets do not ascend, but descend. Experience itself teaches us that Mars can easily be converted into Venus, but not Venus into Mars-Venus being a lower sphere. Similarly Jupiter is easily transmuted into Mercury, because Jupiter is higher than Mercury. The former is the second below the firmament, the latter second above the earth. Saturn is the highest, the moon the lowest. The sun mixes with all ` Fulcinelli

They, and I suppose by “they”, I mean NASA or some other astronomical giant body, have shared with us the numbers. Mars has an orbit of 780 days. Period. They tell you that 780 days is its cycle, but have you stopped to count to see if it’s true?

Well, why would you?

780 days is, in fact, the average number of days. Average Mars becomes just an average asshole… because everything about his sacred connection is lost. It’s in the details of what Mars actually does that we find his sacredness… it’s how we find how Mars does reduce or transmute to Venus.

It matters. It matters because Mars is the will. And the will needs motivation and desire to become better. So I’m going to give you all of the fine boring details of the math that help Mars – the will – transmute through Venus – the heart.

The following research is included in Binary Star Astrology, which has not yet released. You can read some free chapters here.

Remember, this is just the math (cycles and patterns)! More in the coming days on the myth and the magic! The current Capricorn Sun/Mars/Venus conjunction of early 2026, which I call a Mars Rose Point©, makes this powerful information to engage with right now.

The Cycles of Mars

Many who use ancient or shamanic astrology will recognize some of this information. Both sidereal and synodic cycles must be used together to understand the cycle:

  • Sidereal (as measured against the stars) and Synodic cycles (as measured against the conjunction with the sun) of Mars line up at 32, 47,64 and 79 years
  • They become nearly exact at 79 years
  • This is reflected in natal Solar Returns, where Mars returns to its sign and degree at ages 32, 47, 64 and 79 years
  • Mars 32 year cycle is 15 + 17 = 32
  • Mars 47 year cycle is 15 + 17 + 15 = 47
  • In days it’s 7 cycles of 707 days then a 546 day cycle plus 8 cycles of 707 days plus a 546 day cycle. This is the same as 15 + 17 = 32
  • The Babylonians used the 79-year cycle, which is even more precise to predict the cycles of Mars: 15+17+15+17+15=79
  • There are and average of 14 conjunctions between Mars and the Sun in the 32 years. Within those 32 years, 5 of those conjunctions also happen with Venus during what I am calling the Mars Rose Cycle.

The Mars Rose Cycle

This is a time period when Mars joins Venus in the Venus rose pattern. This happens with Mars, Venus, and the Sun are conjunct:

  • The Mars Rose Cycle is a 160-year cycle
  • It consists of twenty 8-year Venus rose/pentagram cycles or five 32-year Mars rose/pentagram cycles.
  • The current cycle is from 1917 to 2077 = 160 years
  • All conjunctions of Mars/Venus and the Sun within the 160-year cycle are with Venus at the Superior Conjunction

The Current Mars Rose Cycle© Point

  • The Current 2026 Stelliumis in Capricorn, and last occurred 32 years ago in 1994
  • Mar/Venus/Sun meet up every 6.4 years during the 160-year cycle
  • This cycle of Mars and Venus was noted by the Mayans in the Dresden Codex and studied in recent research (see note at the end)1

The Breakdown of the Rose Cycle

  • The Rose Cycle Breaks Down for 137 years
  • The years between this 160-year cycle and the next are: 2079-2216. During this time, Mars and Venus no longer meet up every 6.4 years, but very randomly (see the download for exact dates), and Mars now meets up with Venus in inferior conjunctions.
    • 2079 to 2124 is 45 years of conjunctions that are with both Venus retrograde (Superior Conjunction) and Venus direct (Superior Conjunction)
    • 2124 to 2171 is 47 years of conjunction with the retrograde of Venus (no superior conjunctions)
    • 2169 to 2216 is 47 years of both rx (Inferior) and direct (Superior)

The Rose Re-emerges

Another 160 years of Mars, Sun, and Venus Superior conjunctions occur from 2216 to 2376

If you are interested in the dates, I generated them with Solarfire. You can download the research and astrological tables below.

These dates and tables are the same whether you are using the Ptolemaic model that most astrologers use, the Heliocentric Copernican/Kepler model or the model that I use, which is the Tychos.

There is, then, using cycles that can be attributed to the ancient Maya, excellent commensuration of Mars’ position in the sky with its synodic stations and with the tropical year. We note, finally, that the ca. 11,679 days contained in 7L + S + 8L + S ESIs is equivalent to 20 synodic periods of Venus with an error of only about 1 day (583.9 × 20 = 11,678); the appearance of the glyph for Venus in the captions to the UWT is good presumptive evidence of a concern with the relationship between the cycles of Venus and Mars – Bricker HM, Aveni AF, Bricker VR.
